Program Description:
Maryland Progressive Institute in a TYPE 1 full day special education and related services program providing services to students with cognitive disabilities in grades 1-12 who require instruction focused on functional academic and social training. We will accept students in grades K-12 (ages 6-22) with the classifications of learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, emotional disabilities and other health impairments. Our goal is to close the gap between a child's potential and his/her day-to-day performance. An emphasis is placed on developing self-respect, responsibility and building character. Maryland Progressive Institute's mission is to mainstream and/or graduate every student in a positive, clean and safe environment where all are respected. Here students will gain a sense of self-worth and individuality through academic and behavioral achievement. We will encourage our students to work hard and demonstrate the behavior and skills necessary to succeed both in school and life.
