Program Description:
The Pathways School-Catonsville Arundel provides integrated academic, therapeutic, and vocational services through community-based programming. Pathways emphasizes the use of restorative practices and proactive therapeutic intervention and does not utilize restraints or seclusion. The cornerstone of the program is allowing students who have not been successful in traditional school-based settings to receive individualized delivery of service within community settings. Individual and group therapy sessions, as well as, small academic group activities are scheduled for the Catonsville school site. Individual instruction, experiential learning opportunities, and career exploration are implemented in a variety of locations in the communities surrounding the school and students’ homes, including public libraries, community center, shopping centers and workplaces. Placement in this program offers students the opportunity to engage in their education within an individually tailored environment and gives them the option to earn a Maryland High School Diploma, earn a High School Certificate, or prepare to take the GED. The program model allow students who have not been successful in traditional school-based settings the opportunity to complete their secondary education.
