Program Description : The New Directions Academy provides partial and full day services for special education students in grades 6 through 12. Students receive instruction in content areas needed to earn high school credits toward graduation. Students also prepare for state required functional testing and the high school assessment program. Classes are mixed grade. Special education and general education students are educated by teachers who meet state certification requirements. Related services are provided individually or in mixed groups as necessary and appropriate per each student’s Individualized Education Program. The staff of the New Directions Academy includes an educational director, principal, teachers, instructional assistants, a behavioral specialist, and a licensed clinical professional counselor. New Directions also accepts sex offenders.
