Program Description : The program is designed to meet the cognitive and affective educational needs of children with emotional disabilities, multiple disabilities and specific learning disabilities including children who have experienced trauma. The middle school is designed to provide a structured environment where older students can experience both self-contained and transitional classroom settings. Each student receives instruction aligned with the State standards including reading, mathematics, language arts, science, social studies, music, art, health and pre-vocational education. A wide range of clinical support services, including psychiatric services, is available as part of the school program. Individual, group and family therapy services are offered as is clinically indicated. Parents are key members of the treatment team and are also encouraged to be involved in all aspects of the school program as well as in the many educational and recreational activities planned specifically for parents/families. A short -term (60-90 day) crisis stabilization – diagnostic program is also a component of the program. Clinical and educational services are fully integrated into this comprehensive program. The St. Vincent’s Villa Residential Treatment Center is located on the same campus and eligible and LSS approved residents are able to attend the school program.
