Program Description : Sheppard Pratt School in Gaithersburg is a nonpublic special education day school located in Montgomery County; we provide year-round educational, therapeutic, and daily living services to students ages 12 to 21 with autism, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, other health impairment, and specific learning disabilities. We have big hearts, big intentions, and big goals for our students. When our students walk through the doors, they are greeted by the smiling faces of our dedicated and experienced staff, and that positive feeling continues throughout each day. Our warm and welcoming team of educators and therapists helps students meet their educational goals and prepare them for life beyond the classroom. We use the Maryland State College and Career Readiness Standards, Montgomery County Public School Curriculum, and Syracuse Community-Referenced Curriculum guide and support our students with on- and off-site work internships and vocational trainings as well. Programming also focuses on learning healthy habits; self-care; and communication, social, and coping skills. Our students benefit from the support of Sheppard Pratt and have access to weekly recreational outings, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, counseling, vocational and life skills training, nursing services, psychiatric services, transition services, community-based instruction, and a 2:1 staff to student ratio.
