Program Description : Sheppard Pratt School in Severna Park High School is a 10-month special education program located in Anne Arundel County; we serve students grades 9 through 12 with autism, emotional disabilities, speech and language impairment, specific learning disabilities, multiple disabilities, and other health impairment. Our program, embedded in Severna Park High School, ensures students can spend as much time as possible in mainstream classes. Our multidisciplinary team helps students meet their educational goals and prepares them for their future and life beyond the classroom using Anne Arundel County Public School’s curriculum and research-based strategies in both the self-contained and general education settings. Our students have access to sports teams, the cafeteria, vast elective offerings, completer programs, and extracurricular activities at Severna Park High School. They can take advantage of courses available through AACPS’s Center of Applied Technology South (CAT-S) and our partnership with the Department of Rehabilitative Services (DORS), which allows students the opportunity to obtain paid summer internships at a local hospital. We offer small class sizes, individual and group counseling, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, individualized academic support and support during general education classes, transition services, and more to help our students thrive.
