Program Description : The Woodbourne School is approved by MSDE as a TYPE I full day and partial day Special Education and related services program for students with emotional disabilities and intellectual disabilities in an Elementary School (Grades 6 through 8) and a Secondary School (Grades 9 through 12); a TYPE I General Education program for students in an Elementary School (Grades 6 through 8) and a Secondary School (Grades 9 through 12); and a Pre-GED TESTS Preparation Program. The school is in operation 215 days per year. The goal of the Woodbourne School is to prepare students for the return to their home communities and neighborhood schools Woodbourne has certified staff in special education and the specific content areas. Components of the school program include: diagnostic and prescriptive instruction, Maryland standardized testing, educational assessments, transition services, behavior treatment services, psychiatric services, nursing and health services, crisis intervention services, speech and language services, after school programming and integrated therapeutic services. Students earn credits toward the completion of requirements necessary to earn a Maryland State High School Diploma. We are transforming our school culture through the Restorative Healing Model which includes Aggression Replacement Training, Community Restorative Justice and Trauma Treatment.
